Science is Splendid

Science is definitely splendid…just take a look at Community Resources’ last week in DPS.

On Tuesday, CRI coordinated the 8th grade Science Fair at Skinner Middle School. Mega-thanks go to CRI’s 22 Denver-area scientists who served as judges for the fair. Each of the 180+ Skinner students had the opportunity to share their project with a judge, who then scored the project on a 50-point rubric. After the student conversations, the judges had the challenging task of determining the top three projects. The 1st place project was The Effect of Bridge Design on How Much Weight it Can Hold by 8th grader Eva Kolb.

Kudos to the science teachers at Skinner who do an extraordinary job of teaching and supporting their students. No doubt these students will do well at the District and Metro fairs coming up in the spring.

On Friday, CRI coordinated an all-day Science Day at Columbian Elementary. The event brought a wide variety of science presentations and hands-on activities to the Columbian students. A sampling of those topics includes Marine Biology, Live Farm Animals, Marshmallow Molecules, Get the Yuck Out, Venomous and Poisonous, Space Time, Mission to Mars, Wild Senses, Dramatic Digestive System, and so much more.

The students and staff had a marvelous day learning how Science is Splendid. The questions they asked and the smiles on their faces said it all!

If your school would like to have a Science Day or a Science Fair this year OR if your company would like to sponsor a science program for a school, just give us a call. We love creating these experiences for Denver’s students.
