Meet the CRI Staff
Sue Edwards
Executive Director
Sue first became involved with Community Resources, Inc., in 1990 when she served as a member of the Board of Directors (1990-1996) as a parent representative. Sue was called back into service in 2001, when she was asked to serve as President of the Board of Directors for that year. Sue was hired as Executive Director of CRI in June 2004. Prior to joining CRI, Sue served as a member of the Board of Education for Denver Public Schools (1995-2003) and as Board President (1996-1999). Her involvement with the students and community of DPS spans a 24-year career of volunteer service. Sue received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Laura Kent
Program Manager
Laura joined CRI in the summer of 2011 as Manager of the Academic Mentors Project. Before relocating to the United States, she served as Program Manager for the Learning Disabilities Association of Nova Scotia. A proud parent of two Denver Public Schools graduates, Laura is passionate about helping students discover and pursue their interests. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Casey Lehrer
Program Manager
Casey first crossed paths with CRI in 2014 while serving on the PTO group for Montclair Elementary and contracted CRI for Family Engagement Nights there. She joined the team in 2026 after having volunteered with her two sons’ DPS schools in various roles. Most recently, she served as a Reading Interventionist at Carson Elementary for 5 years. Casey is a graduate of University of Colorado Boulder.
Lorien Walsh
Program Manager
Lorien joined CRI in the summer of 2026 as Manager of the Classroom Speakers Program. She brings experience as a strategic communications professional in the water and international development sectors and, more recently, as a classroom science teacher. She feels strongly about programming that exposes students to the limitless possibilities for their futures. She holds a bachelor's degree in Media Arts & Design from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
