Thank you for being there...even when you couldn’t be THERE!
Where to begin?? It has been quite a year…for the world…for our schools…for our children…for Community Resources, Inc. As you can imagine, the pandemic had a significant effect on the programming that CRI typically provides for the students and families of Denver Public Schools. You can’t do Classroom Speakers programs when there are no kids in the classrooms…or can you??
As is typical of CRI’s volunteers and partners, many of you stepped up and created virtual programs for our kids which, in turn, allowed us to bring some entertaining and educational programs to students, and their families, albeit with the help of the internet. Our arts partners were extraordinary in helping us to create morning-long arts adventures for students in seven schools. Community professionals serving as mentors rose to the occasion and found creative ways to share their careers with students who were eager to learn. Even a few family science nights happened with students and parents doing science experiments together at home!
Looking back, we see that the pandemic pushed CRI staff and volunteers to try new things and, in most cases, it worked. We now look forward to moving ahead, with continued passion and commitment, and with a few new tools. It is our fervent hope that we, with your help, will be able to bring live programming into schools next school year.
So, whether you were part of this year’s programming, or not, we want to say Thank You for sharing your knowledge and passions with the students in our school district. Do know that we will be in touch as we get ready for an exciting year to come.
Until then, be safe, be well, find joy in each day.
