Earth Week at Munroe Elementary—A Week Filled with Science and Fun!!!

Thanks to support from the Assistance League of Denver, Community Resources, Inc. has created an Earth Week at Munroe Elementary filled with engaging science and environmental programming. ECE-5th grade students at Munroe are learning about our planet and, more importantly, how they can help protect it.

On Monday, the little ones’ program from the Children’s Museum Denver Healthy Planet Heroes, taught that “the earth needs a superhero, and that hero is You”! In the Weather Works program from CU Science Discovery, 3rd graders learned about weather around the world and even created tornadoes and lightning in their classroom. The 5th grade students built water filters, utilizing a wide variety of materials, to see which materials filtered water the best. Many thanks to Denver Water for sharing this program with students.

The rest of the week is yet to come, but it will include programs on Erosion, Composting, Rocks & Minerals, How Plants Grow, Air Pollution, Getting the Yuck Out, Arctic Life, and more Weather Works. It promises to be an exciting week of new learning experiences and activities. The week will culminate with Munroe’s participation in a community-wide outdoor clean-up event.

Thanks, again, to the Assistance League of Denver and to all of the wonderful presenters who shared their knowledge and enthusiasm with Munroe’s students.
